As someone who has a visceral negative reaction to anything involving guns/gun-related culture, I am not going to lie that thinking about sending my 13 year old and his friends to dress up in camo and "shoot" at each other made me hesitate.
But I was wrong, and our experience is something I would 100% recommend.
First of all, it's a well-run and professional operation. All my emails were answered promptly and enthusiastically - so much so that I was already feeling excited before we even got there. We arrived on a rainy day, but there are lots of shelters around and places to take cover (and some kids who had done it in both rain and sun said they thought the rain was even more fun).
The employees at checkin are so friendly and we immediately felt welcomed and oriented. The way the property is set up is so cool - a variety of courses with game leaders to introduce and lead the players through various scenerios. After every round, the kids could not stop saying how much fun they were having.
We had a two hour session and unlike some other experiences, they give you every minute of those two hours. The kids could have probably easily have gone for a third hour and been totally happy.
Even two days later, my son and his friends are talking about their strategies and the different games with such delight. They came away exhausted and engaged and bonded and full of laughter and good stories - really what more can you want? I would not hesitate to come back (and my younger said has already said he wants to do the exact same thing for his birthday). I really appreciate our morning there and all the staff who make it such a cool experience!
